Rogan's Fancy
fly & photo...Marvin Nolte, USA.

The Rogan's Fancy is a beautiful Irish classic from the doyen of fly-tyers, Michael Rogan of Ballyshannon. Rogans were a very famous flytying family in the County of Donegal, and had an equal great reputation for dyes and dyed materials. These colours were of the very brightest and most brilliant in rich colour. Michael Rogan produced the famous "Fiery Brown" colour so desirable in all Irish classics, and it is still extremely important even today for both trout and salmon flies for Irish rivers and lakes.
