[The Yellow Silk

The dressing for the "Yellow Silk" is taken from "Irish Trout & Salmon Flies" by Ted Malone. On page 266 we will find a single version of this fly. I have been unable to locate any more information on this lovely simple pattern.


The Dressing: (from Malone)

Tag: Oval Silver tinsel and yellow floss silk.
Tail: Golden Pheasant crest and Indian Crow.
Body:
Rear third - Yellow seal's fur.
Second third - Black seal's fur.
Front third - Claret seal's fur.
Ribs: Oval gold tinsel.
Hackle: Claret cock hackle.
Throat: Blue Jay.
Wings: Two golden pheasant tippets back to back, Golden Pheasant tail and then married sections of red, white, blue and green dyed Swan, Bronze Mallard. A topping over all.
Sides: Pintail slips.
Head: Black tying silk.
