The Ballyshannon fly & photo, Marvin Nolte,USA.
The Ballyshannon is a delightful Irish classic salmon fly and the fly presented is the dressing of Michael Rogan of Ballyshannon. This fly was fished extensively in the Ballyshannon area but today it would be rare indeed to find even a reduced version in any salmon angler's box. Nevertheless, it is a magnificent pattern to add to any classic salmon fly collection.
Once again my profound gratitude to Marvin Nolte for tying this magnificent pattern for the classic-fly pages of Flytying-Ireland. The dressing is taken from "Irish Trout & Salmon Flies" by Ted Malone.
